Bamberg is a stunning, historic town located in the Upper Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany. Spread across seven hills and intersected by the Regnitz River, it is often affectionately called the "Franconian Rome." Having miraculously escaped major destruction during World War II, Bamberg boasts one of Europe's largest intact old town centers (Altstadt), which is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
